Morrigan used to be a respected female warrior, and the Goddess of War and Death. At the beginning, people prayed to her for the power against their enemies. As time passed, however, more of them started to use that power for revenge, resulting in the change of Morrigan. The Goddess of War became the Goddess of Revenge, and her image in people’s mind became dark gradually.
People always like love stories between goddesses and heroes, but not the one that happened to Morrigan. Her crush Cuchulainn was cursed for scorning the love of the goddess, and was thus defeated in the last battle. In the end, he died after tying himself to a pillar, and Morrigan became a raven sitting on the shoulder of the miserable hero.
From then on, wherever there’s war, there’s a raven.
